LOCKED MAIL BAG 2000
RICHLANDS Q 4077
Wednesday 7TH NOVEMBER 2001

Dear Friends,

It is a year since I was convicted on the most ridiculous allegations of rape.

It is a tragedy for the Justice in Queensland that we have to live under the threat of a witch-hunt. What has shocked me, is that the justice system can be manipulated to convict any citizen that it targets. There are very few people trying to expose the scandal, and unfortunately the media is leading the witch-hunt. What devastated me was the decision of the APPEAL Court of Queensland. Knowing that I am innocent and the outrageous nature of the allegations,I had faith they would deliver Justice.
"Some people mistakenly believe judges are obliged to deliver justice. This
misapprehension may fuel unreasonable criticism of courts." This is a quote from Chief Justice of Queensland Courier Mail 20 February 2001. He goes on to say, "If anything is 'unfair', it will be the law, not the judgement". This is a public service 'Cop out'. All citizens expect justice not a 'Cop out'.

After a year it is very cruel on Lois, family and friends.

I have been able to maintain my faith that eventually justice and common sense will prevail. If anything, I have become even stronger, and more determined to see Justice return to Queensland. We have good support from the current lawyers who have a commitment to getting justice and have worked very diligently to that end. It appears every time we get close to another chance to get to Court there are delays.

This has not been good for my health, which is suffering because of the difficulties in getting normal medical attention. I won't try to describe the inhumane conditions that exist within a high security prison in Queensland, as most people believe that anything that happens to prisoners in jail is too good for them. I will never forget my trips in prison vans. Occasionally there is someone within the system who makes my day by trying to do something to make it easier or at least humane.

Enough of this depression, but we never know what life holds in store for any of us.
I am indeed fortunate to have such a great and loyal band of friends and a family I am so proud of.

I have found that there are not many people within this system whom I can talk to, and even fewer I can rely upon. People whom you can talk to, warn me to trust no-one, a little like politics.

From time to time we all get angry that the Justice system is so sick. I occasionally become very angry but I have learnt to become more patient, and I am determined they won't kill me. The law has been allowed to deteriorate to such extent that the police and authorities encourage extortionists to lodge false complaints. Their crimes must be exposed. Unfortunately commonsense is not a requirement in Law or Justice in Queensland, as so many of you keep pointing out to me. Every Queenslander has to live under the threat of this system, my kids, you, your family and friends, so my social conscience will not let me walk away from the injustice.

On the positive side, I have been slowly improving my computer skills and have become a little annoyed with myself that I didn't take time out to keep up with the technology. I've added a little artwork for your inspection.

We do have our little amusements in here. My table-mate, Siggy Diederich, is 75 on Sunday and we have hoarded a few edible treats, so we will have a small celebration.
During the week with the rain, Siggy's cell sprung a leak and he told me that his U-Boat was sinking. He was the radio operator on U- 2513 based at St.Nazaire on the French Coast until the invasion on D Day in Second World War and is an old style gentleman. He is still reasonably fit for his age and is well educated.

Tracy Clancy, who is now at the prison farm, keeps in touch by mail and provides me with the odd laugh. There have been a few escapes since he arrived there. I told him, they're all trying to get away from his poor jokes. He used to drive me mad with his terrible 'puns'.

I am still in maximum security and there are only five of us left from Moreton. Most have gone to lower security areas such as residential. The media rot has made the authorities penalise me as a high-risk dangerous prisoner.

I really do enjoy the mail, with so many letters from all over the world and from such an interesting and varied group of friends and supporters. I am a little behind in answering which is why I am giving some general news. Mike Lucas reminded me it is 35 years this Christmas since we met Lois when flatting at Palm Beach. It was the beginning of a wonderful life and family

The news on my Cleveland Sands drinking mates is not good 'Peter the Pirate' died this week, and Don Kunde and Ricky Ross are very ill.

Kerrie has been helping me with the case management, and with her legal background it has taken a lot of pressure off Lois and me.

David and Kerrie have tried to turn a house they own into a tourist attraction featuring about 60,000 honeybees. Another D'Arcy family story. David's new industrial relations company is slowly establishing a good clientele.

Diana is nearing the end of her university degree and is happy with a brand new sewing machine.

Lara has spent some time in North Queensland recently, and saw Kath Bannon who is now managing the Quick Silver stores. Kath told how she shook hands with Bill Clinton outside a Port Douglas store on the morning of 11 September. She should remember that date. Now she's in Hong Kong and Manilla buying. Good job! Kathy.

Lois's birthday was a family affair that my brother John managed to turn into a drama by getting admitted to hospital with a bleeding attack. He is also on that awful drug Walfraim that is causing me so much trouble.

I am even stronger and will continue to fight for truth and justice.

I still need your support and could not survive without it. From that point of view, you our friends, have helped me keep my faith in humanity. John Curtain wrote, 'Friendship is a sheltering tree', in late 1944 when he was very ill.

Our friend from Melbourne, Dally Messenger, has set up a Web site on the NET to outline the injustice.
